Renew

Renew focuses on the impact that products have on the environment. It encourages efficient and renewable energy use and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It seeks to eliminate, minimize, or reuse waste in the product chain with minimal adverse effects on air, soil, and water quality.

Energy preservationConventional energy production emits greenhouse gases (GHGs) that contribute to climate change, and therefore it is the best to use energy efficiently and from renewable energy sources as much as possible. Energy efficiency and GHG reduction measures can be taken and energy use can be shifted toward renewable energy sources. For the remaining GHG emissions it is possible to offset via internal or third-party carbon offset programs or purchases so that the product is carbon neutral.

Waste reductionHazardous and non-hazardous waste generation can be prevented to the extent possible, waste can be diverted from landfills and incineration, and where waste generation is unavoidable, controlled disposal can be a solution. Product and packaging design, materials selection, reuse, recycling and/or composting may all contribute to reduced waste generation. Reuse and recycling can maintain the inherent quality of the material, if possible.

Clean air, water and soilThis principle stimulate to prevent air, water and soil pollution. Further it checks if air quality is not impaired, water resources are protected, and the fertility and structure of soil are maintained and restored.
