11-11-2010 will mark Dutch Sustainability Day and a multitude of events have been organized all around the country.
People 4 Earth will be one of the hosts at the Clean Drink Event in Utrecht at the "de Geertekerk".
The main subject from our side will be a discussion on sustainable clothing by our founder, Nico Broersen. The talk will begin with an introduction about People 4 Earth as a whole, and then continue with issues specific to sustainability in the clothing industry and the activities that People 4 Earth is taking in this field. 'Wat Mooi', 'MUD jeans' and 'Van Markoviec' will also share their choices in sustainable clothing design.

The Brundtland Report, also known as 'Our Common Future' was first published in 1987, and garnered great influence in establishing a sustainability action plan for the following years. 2012 will mark the 25 year anniversary of the paper. While the Brundtland Report inspired many with a positive vision of the future, it is also in need of revision and improvement so that it can be more reflective of today's reality. In response, a group of several hundred people helped found the 'Our Common Future 2.0' Project, which works to build an inspiring vision for the future.
Raising the level of transparency for both individuals and markets is an essential step towards building a sustainable future. As such, transparency is as one of People 4 Earth's core values and bringing it to the marketplace is essential to get at the substance of any issue relating to sustainability. For that reason People 4 Earth's Director Standards & Quality, Mr. René Heusschen, is an active member within this group.

After 2 years of working with a local auditor firm in the Netherlands, People 4 Earth has now reached an agreement with Deloitte for its auditing work on a worldwide basis. The agreement is such that Deloitte will perform the financial audits for the 3 entities of People 4 Earth located in the Netherlands (Harderwijk) and the US (Washington DC).
As part of their corporate responsibility program, Deloitte has expressed its willingness to do this work 'free of charge'. We feel this adds credibility to People 4 Earth as a transparent organization. It helps ensure People 4 Earth's commitment to being open about our financial figures that are validated by an independent audit firm that constitutes one of the 'big four'.
The CFO of People 4 Earth, Leon Zijlmans, is pleased with this development, which adds to the growing professionalism of the organization of People 4 Earth and underlines that we as an organization 'practice what we preach'. The Amsterdam office of Deloitte will be coordinating the audit efforts for People 4 Earth.

People 4 Earth and OnePlanet have joined forces, both organizations are integrated within the People 4 Earth Foundation. The experts of OnePlanet have developed a system to make the sustainability of products comparable and easily accessible for consumers. This enables consumers to consciously buy more sustainable alternatives. This system and the developed expertise will be the base of the consumer proposition that People 4 Earth will launch in 2011.
People 4 Earth and OnePlanet are both convinced that cooperation between the many initiatives with similar ideals and objectives is key in reaching fast sustainable progress. Joining forces is a tangible example.
